Gang Violence Graph

Tuesday, December 9, 2008

The rates of gang activity and violence as well as drug use and other bad influences affecting the youth rise every year. There are after school activities whose missions are to provide a healthy, safe, and productive place for the youth to develop good life skills, sheltered from the many of the dangerous and detrimental influences and temptations.

I think this is true because children that are actively involved in the community- playing sports, reading, volunteering, etc., simply do not have the time to engage in drug use and violence.

I think that after school programs definately keep kids off the streets and out of trouble. Many kids that were involved with drugs and gangs have joined programs that have helped them turn their life around.

I agree that after school programs, sport or school based learning programs, keep kids off the streets and away from those negative influences. It also makes sense because just the time that is taken up due to the program will stop one from joining lets say a gang

these are good statistics. I thought the gang and violence rates were decreasing, not increasing. But it makes sense. Hopefully after school programs will reduce these rates.
